Národní památkový ústav

The Křivoklát Castle Library is a remarkable collection originally assembled by Prince Karl Egon of Fürstenberg in the 18th century. With over 52,000 volumes, it includes rare medieval manuscripts dating back to the 9th century, incunabula, and early printed books. It holds a notable collection of works by the Roman poet Horace. Originally located in the Fürstenberg Palace in Prague, it was relocated to Křivoklát Castle in 1881, where it remains preserved in its original bookcases in the Knight’s Hall. In 1929, the castle and library were bought by the Czechoslovak Republic from Max Egon Fürstenberg and today they are administered by the National Heritage Institute.
